Frequently Asked Questions - Listing Appearance

A listing can only appear in one area at a time. You can however, submit multiple listings and have each one appear in a different area.

A fee applies for each listing you want to have posted, fortunately we offer discounts for multiple listings. All listings can be conveniently maintained from within your user account.

When you submit/update your listing, there is a tick box next to your e-mail address saying "accept." If this is ticked, an envelope icon will appear next to your name in your listing. When a person clicks on the envelope, they are taken to an on-line e-mail form where they can compose and send a message that is sent to your e-mail address.

Your e-mail address is not disclosed using this system to help avoid exploitation by e-mail address abusers (like spammers). It also is good for those using public terminals, where an e-mail program isn't available.

Including your e-mail address in text form in other fields of your listing is highly discouraged, and will be removed by Find A Tutor administrators if found.

Listings that are "near" an area are shown in a separate list after the listings for that area. When you do a search, look at the bottom of the screen for a "near" button. You will see your listing in the "near" list for that area, if you selected it as your "near area."

Administrators do not have time to update individual listings on demand. Tutors can login to edit their listing at anytime. As soon as you enter a listing, you can login to edit it, even if you haven't verified your e-mail address or had your listing reviewed by the administration yet.

When making changes to your listing, do not use the "back" button in your browser. Instead, go to the tutor's page to login and edit your listing.

Unfortunately, no. All text fields are for plain text only, for security reasons we do not allow any html tags. You can place the text URL in your listing, which will have to be copy and pasted into a browser.

Web site hot links in listings may be an added feature in the future.
